I was in Helsinki on September 1 to take part in ECHA's Biocides Stakeholders' Day. Over 170 participants from authorities, manufacturers and formulators were in attendance to hear about the latest developments within biocide legislation. For those of you who were not able to be present - here are the most interesting points from the day.
- The process is proceeding according to schedule. All substances are expected to be evaluated by 2024.
- Of all substances that are to be evaluated, 16% have been approved. However, none for metalworking as of yet.
- The list of approved suppliers, the so-called Article 95 list, has now entered into force. Make sure your biocide supplier is included: Article 95 list
- It is interesting to note that within the metalworking fluid segment there are not many approved suppliers for each substance, the majority only have one or two.
