Wallenius Water Innovation is phasing out AOT

From 1 September 2017, the formation of hydroxyl radicals in our AOT products will be classified as an in-situ generated biocide by EU and therefore need certification. Wallenius Water Innovation have decided not to apply for a permit and is phasing out our current Wallenius AOT products.

EU is doing an important work in the risk assessment of chemicals and we respect their decision. The hydroxyl radicals in our AOT products have only occurred inside the reactor and never entailed a risk for the operator, but because they will be classified as a biocide, we have decided to phase out the AOT, says Hans Ahlgren, marketing manager at Wallenius Water Innovation.

This means that we will exchange the lamp to a 254 nm lamp and offer an alternative to the titanium dioxide coated tubes, if we get them in return.

For those customers who wish to continue to buy, install and use AOT products, Wallenius Water Innovation has initiated a collaboration with a new company in the Netherlands: AOT BV, which has applied for permission to sell AOT-based products. The process is expected to take 1-2 years and during the application period, national legislation will be applied.

It is important for us that our customers are affected as little as possible and therefore we will continue to provide AOT products and spare parts until October 1, 2017 when the AOT BV can take over, says Hans Ahlgren.
