Two more countries have ratified IMO's ballast water convention

Antigua & Barbuda and Albania have now ratified IMO's International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships’ Ballast Water and Sediments.

Antigua & Barbuda and Albania have now ratified IMO's International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships’ Ballast Water and Sediments. This means that eighteen countries now have ratified the Convention, representing
approximately 15.36% of the gross tonnage of the world’s merchant shipping. For the convention to come into force, 30 countries representing 35% of the tonnage need to ratify. The convention will eventually force all ships to clean their ballast water.
