The tanker trucks used to supply drinking water to Sweden's UN troops are an example of how Wallenius AOT has been integrated into mobile installations.
The Swedish Armed Forces, which send Swedish troops to various unstable areas around the world, know that one of the toughest problems facing a UN detachment is to secure its supply of clean water. For the Swedish UN troops in Afghanistan, Liberia and Chad, Wallenius AOT is part of the solution. Tanker trucks are filled with the purest drinking water available. Each tanker carries a small system with a circulation pump and a Wallenius AOT unit. Wallenius AOT is used to help secure protection from harmful microorganisms – in particular the Cryptosporidium parasite, which can cause severe diarrhoea. Cryptosporidium does not react to chlorine, the chemical most commonly used when attempting to brake down microorganisms in drinking water.
